The Abu Dhabi Police recently arrested an Arab national for trying to share an Arabic movie (still showing in cinemas across Abu Dhabi and other Arab cities) against a subscription fee through an external URL (outside the UAE) . The case was identified as a copyright infringement and intellectual property theft.

Major General Omair Al Muhairi, Director of Police Operations, noted that the Abu Dhabi Police managed to stop the sharing of the movie, and prevented it from being downloaded by other websites. The internet pirate was promptly arrested shortly after the Criminal Investigation Department received notification about the illegal piracy act.

Deaths and injuries caused by road accidents in the UAE during the first quarter of the year decreased by 21 per cent and 14.8 per cent respectively.

According to statistics released by the Traffic Coordination Directorate General at the Ministry of Interior; road accidents that occurred in the same period this year dropped by 8.1 per cent compared to the same period of 2014.

Statistics showed that the total number of deaths recorded during the first quarter of the year was 147 compared to 186 during the same period last year, a decrease of 39 deaths, that is, 21 per cent.

The number of injuries resulting from traffic accidents recorded during the first quarter of the year was 1,684 compared to 1,976 during the same time period in 2014, a drop of 14.8 per cent.
