The Second Edition of the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research Receives 288 Applications

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, March 8th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Committee of the Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award has received 288 applications to participate. The topics applied for the Second Edition of the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research cover various police and social sciences. The 324 arbitrators of specialized professors and academics were nominated from 25 university and educational entities from the UAE and abroad.

The Award’s Board of Trustees emphasized the importance of participating in the distinguished applied research of the Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award, which includes both local and international awards. In order to promote and exchange expertise, the Board recommended entering into partnerships with universities and scientific research entities both within and outside of the UAE.

The Board previously held a meeting in Abu Dhabi which was chaired by Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees. The meeting was attended by Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Director General of Total Quality at Dubai Police; and Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau.  Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi and Dr. Husam Sultan Al Ulama, members of the Award’s Board of Trustees, also attended the meeting.

Major General Al Nuaimi noted that the subjects of the applied research cover a number of research fields including:  Management and Organizational Excellence, Security and Police Work, Social Issues, Law, and Applied Sciences.

He also praised the efforts that have been exerted in the process of achieving the desired goals of the Award, which include establishing an institutional structure to support security research and studies, upgrading security work, and consolidating scientific research as an essential tool for building a knowledge base that suits all modern sciences and has various applications in the fields of security.

During the meeting Colonel Dr. Salah Obeid Al Ghoul, Director of Law Respect Culture Bureau, Head of the Executive Committee of the Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award, and member of the Award’s Board of Trustees, reviewed the report and achievements of the Chairman of the Executive Committee at the Award’s Secretariat.. He also provided benchmarking statistics from the First Edition of the Award. The Award’s Board of Trustees also reviewed a list of nominated arbitrators for the Second Edition of the Award. Additionally, they discussed the issue concerning accepting applications after the application deadline and the compensation for the arbitrators alongside other measure taken for the current cycle of the Awards.
