The First Police Operations’ Ramadan Shooting Championship Concludes in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, July 14th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Directorate General of Police Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) has concluded the first Ramadan Shooting Championship. The two-week championship took place at the Al Shabia Police Station shooting range and witnessed the participation of more than 50 staff members from all police stations and departments.

The final competitions were attended by Major General Omair Muhammad Al Muhairi, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Brigadier Salim Shaheen Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director of the Capital Police Directorate; and police station directors and officers.

Maj. Gen. Omair Muhammad Al Muhairi honored the winners. The Al Madina Police Station placed first, followed by the Khalidiya Police Station, with the Investigation Affairs Section placing third. It is noteworthy that a number of female police officers participating in the championship were honored in addition to the Al Shabia Police Station which received the Best Organization Award.   

Maj. Gen. Omair Muhammad Al Muhairi stressed the importance of the competition in enhancing the efficiency of the police members in the use of weapons and in raising levels of readiness. “Abu Dhabi Police is keen to organize various programs and competitions in order to contribute to developing the skills of its staff members in various aspects of work,” he said.  Moreover, he noted that the Police Operations’ Shooting Championship will be organized annually, and will witness additional competitions alongside the expected increase in participants from various police departments and directorates.

The championship included pistol and rifle shooting competitions and utilized the latest technology available at the Al Shabia Police station. Competitions incorporated movement and lighting effects that simulated reality by producing external conditions in the field.
