ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, March 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The traffic awareness exhibition held at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi attracted great numbers of visitors who attended the educational traffic shows performed by students. Visitors also participated in educational competitions that focused on educating road users via innovative methods that reflect real life situations and highlight the psychological and material impacts of traffic accidents.

The exhibition, organized by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, is part of the events of the 31st Unified GCC Traffic Week.  The events, under the slogan “Your Choice Determines Your Destiny”, are held in Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi through March 14th.

Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the exhibition has attracted large numbers of school students of various levels. “The exhibition includes innovative performances on traffic awareness that were presented by five schools, namely: Al Taqadom School, Al Falah Kindergarten, Aisha Umm - Al Mumineen School, Maryam Bint Omran School, and Al Dhabiania Private School,” he said.

He also noted that the traffic educational participation of schools in Traffic Week included musical and theatrical performances, poem recitations, and plays that are inspired by the theme of traffic safety. These activities aim to motivate students to further develop their creative ideas so as to contribute to opening new doors for the current efforts to reduce traffic accidents.

The Traffic Exhibition, organized by the Al Ain Traffic and Patrols Section in Al Ain Mall, has also attracted large numbers of students and visitors. The events of the exhibition continue through March 14th.

Lt. Colonel Salah Abdullah Al Hemairi, Chief of the Al Ain Traffic Section, said that the Section, represented by the Public Relations Branch is organizing various educational activities that include delivering awareness lectures at schools, visiting victims of traffic accidents, distributing gifts and awareness brochures, and organizing traffic-oriented reward competitions for the visitors of the exhibition.

Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, the Public Relations Branch Manager at the Al Ain Traffic Section, noted that the activities include public reward competitions. Amouria Basic Education School in Al Ain participated in the exhibition with a model of a “small traffic city” which included a small replica of a city with its residential areas, streets, and traffic lights.

Ghaya Al Dhaheri, Social Expert at Amouria Basic Education School, said that the model was designed by the school bus supervisors in order to raise the students’ traffic awareness. She also noted that the environmental safety team at the school, which includes 75 student members, had an effective role in raising the traffic awareness of other students by distributing traffic awareness flyers and organizing educational lectures in collaboration with the Public Relations Branch at Al Ain Traffic Section.

Concluding, she expressed her gratitude for the Al Ain Traffic Section for their ongoing efforts that aim to limit traffic accidents, violations, human and material losses, and for ensuring the traffic safety of school students and society in general.
