Ramadan Championship of Abu Dhabi Community Police Concludes

Victory Defeats Al Shamikha in Penalty Shoot-out

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, July 15th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Peripheral Regions’ Community Police sectiont concluded the 10th Ramadan Football Championship that was organized in collaboration with ICAD Workers’ City in Al Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. The Services team defeated Spark team 4-3 in penalty shoot-outs, as the match was drawn 1/1 after the regulation playing time.

The championship commenced on the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan in order to strengthen the Community Police Department’s role among workers, and engage workers in diverse cultural and sports activities throughout the holy month.  A total of 12 teams of workers took part in the 10th Ramadan Championship that was organized by the Community Police.

During the closing ceremony, Major Yusuf Faraj Al Hassan, Deputy Director of Community Police Department, awarded the champions with the wining trophy, and honored the teams that placed second and third with medals.

 The ceremony was attended by Captain Ali Salem Al Sai’ari, from the Community Police Section at the Peripheral Regions Directorate; Abdullah Rashid Al Kaabi, from ICAD, in addition to a number of officers, and a large rally of workers.

In a separate event, the Victory Football Team was crowned Champion of the Ramadan Tournament. The two-week championship, which was organized by the Community Police Department at Abu Dhabi Police, was held on the department’s courts, and witnessed the participation of 12 teams of residents from Al Shamikha and Al Falah.

The championship concluded with an exciting game between Victory and Al Bateen teams. The Victory team defeated Al Bateen team 5-4 in penalty shoot-outs, after a 0-0 draw in the original run of play.

Juventus Team placed third; player Ahmad Abdul Kareem was crowned MVP of the championship. Ayed Mansouri, from Al Malaki Team was named Best Goalkeeper.

Major Yusuf Faraj Al Hassan, Acting Director of Community Police Department awarded the champions with the wining trophy, and honored the top-three teams with medals. He also honored a host of residents, in addition to a number of officers for their part in ensuring the success of the championship and social activity. The event was attended by Captain Salim Al Kathiri, Community Service Centers Supervisor in Al Shamikha and Al Falah and a number of officers and community members.

It is worth mentioning that the Ramadan Championship included an array of educational, social, and health-related lectures that were organized in collaboration with Medical Services Department and other police departments and sections. Additionally, a number of awareness lectures were organized on the dangers and health risks of drugs; as well as traffic safety and accident prevention awareness. The activities also included Qur’an memorization, rules of recitation and intonation; in addition to religious lectures, which were organized in collaboration with the Social Relations and Guidance Section at the Community Police Department.
