Police Sports Association and ADNOC Sign MoU

The Police Sports Association and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and collaboration between both sides. The signing ceremony, which took place at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, was attended by HE Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Police Sports Association.
In his speech on the occasion, Major General Al Rumaithi said, “The Police Sports Association is keen to reinforce partnership with national institutions, in an effort to achieve mutual goals within the sports sector. The MoU with ADNOC falls in line with the police leadership’s vision to provide a suitable environment that supports competitiveness and creativity, building on the Police Sports Association’s cooperation with relevant institutions to develop the sports ecosystem across the country.”
Adding further, Major General Al Rumaithi commended the efforts of ADNOC and its support to the sports sector. “As part of the current partnership with the Abu Dhabi Police, ADNOC has been supporting plenty of activities and programs organized by the Abu Dhabi Police. We are looking forward to seeing further cooperation and initiatives that improve sports, encourage and empower athletes to compete in regional and international championships, spread the ‘sports for everyone’ culture and develop relations between national institutions,” he continued.
The MoU was signed by Colonel Mohammed Hamid Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Police Sports Association and Saeed Bin Saif Bin Butti Al Qamzi, director (Administration) - ADNOC. The ceremony was attended by Mohammed Shelaiweh Al-Qubaisi, ADNOC Human Resources Director, Rashid Ali Hamad Al Zaabi, ADNOC Public Relations Director, and a number of Police Sports Association board members.
On the sidelines of the MoU ceremony, Major General Al Rumaithi and Mr. Al-Qubaisi exchanged commemorative shields and presents, in order to reinforce cooperation between both parties and serve their mutual goals aimed at developing the sports sector.
The agreement aims at supporting interaction between both parties in the exchange of expertise and advice; as well as supporting talents, creativity and innovation. Under the MoU, both parties shall coordinate participation in the various sports activities; and cooperate in the various aspects of work, such as exchanging technical and administrative expertise, information, knowledge and sports-related publications. Both entities shall take part in setting up joint committees and teams, facilitating athletes’ participations in official championships, and mutually utilizing logistics. According to the MoU, the Police Sports Association and ADNOC shall also cooperate in sports training, prepare teams and competitions, take part in sports championships and collaborate to organize conferences, seminars, lectures, training courses, workshops and other activities. The agreement will also allow both sides to exchange plans, programs, and activities; provide consultations and sports agendas; and use their mutual sports facilities and equipment jointly.
Commenting on the MoU, Al-Qubaisi said, “Upon the insightful instructions of the higher leadership ADNOC is keen to developing the sports sector, in a way that contributes to the development process in the country. To this end, we seek to support sports events and activities across the country, in line with the strategy and aspirations of the United Arab Emirates, to achieve comprehensive development in the sports sector that is commensurate with the comprehensive and sustainable development witnessed by the country across all fields.”
Al-Qubaisi commended the cooperation of the Abu Dhabi Police. “This MoU falls under the mutual cooperating between public and private local institutions and reflects the unlimited support by the higher leadership to youth, athletes, sports and sports councils,” Al-Qubaisi explained.
For his part, Saif Al Qamzi, ADNOC’s Administration Director and Chairman of the Corniche Club Activities Committee, said, “This agreement stems out of the firm belief of both parties in the importance of sports and its role in supporting a sustainable social and economic development. It also reflects the vision of the wise leadership to guarantee all requirements of a decent, fulfilled life for everyone. ADNOC is keen to provide support to all athletes and national sports teams, in line with our commitment to social responsibility. It also complements its leading role, to supporting all main activities and contributing generously to developing every aspect of the community’s social, economic, cultural and sports sectors. This would serve the UAE’s objectives and support its quest to achieve leadership across all fields, especially in sports.”
In conclusion, Colonel Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Police Sports Association said, “This MoU will serve as a platform for mutual cooperation and will set criteria necessary to reinforce joint sports relations. It will also recommend the practical steps that would help to achieve our objectives. This agreement represents a model of cooperation between the Police Sports Association and ADNOC, for the benefit of the local sports sector.”
