Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Interior organized an introductory forum for the second edition of the Ministry of Interior’s Award for Smartphone Applications. The Forum that was held at Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi, witnessed a large turn-out of attendance by colleges and university students from across the UAE.
During a speech delivered on this occasion, Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations and Head of the E-Services and Smart Applications Program Team at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), encouraged students to participate in the award. Moreover, he stressed the commitment of the Ministry to strengthen strategic partnerships with higher education institutions.
Adding further, Major General Al Raisi indicated that the award will become an annual event, in response to the directives of the Police leadership. “It embodies the Ministry’s keenness to actively support government projects, especially electronic and smart projects aimed at strengthening the UAE’s electronic presence in the global competitiveness index. It also aims to attract and support the innovative ideas of students and foster and encourage talents, in a bid to boost the quality and efficiency of services provided by the various Ministry’s sectors and departments,” added Al Raisi.
He emphasized that promoting the Government efficiency requires developing sophisticated and modern services, that are easy to implement and available around the clock. “This would achieve coherence and complementarity among government agencies concerned with service delivery in various stages, with a view of enhancing customer experience and improving the quality of services provided to customers, so as to achieve the government objectives of reaching full customer satisfaction," he reiterated.
Al Raisi watched along with the attendees a documentary about the first edition of the Ministry of Interior’s Award for Smartphone Applications.
For his part, Major Eng. Hassan Muthanna Al Harbi, Member of the Electronic Smart Services and Applications Program Team at the Ministry of Interior acquainted the attendees with the criteria, conditions and categories of the award. “This award is compatible with the Best Government ‘Service via the Mobile’ Award, organized by the UAE Government,” underlined Al Harbi.
The Forum was attended by Brigadier Ismail Al Sirkal, Deputy Director General of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations; Colonel Saif Al Ketbi, Police College Director, along with Directors General and heads of departments. Also attending was a large number of officers, representatives of government agencies and the academic body supervising the colleges and universities in the UAE.
