Ministry of Interior Expands its Activities for Zayed Humanitarian Work Day

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, July 7th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) participated in the expansive activities held in observance for Zayed Humanitarian Work Day. Participation of the MoI is in recognition of the humanitarian, philanthropic and charitable approaches and efforts of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul.

Marking the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector organized a celebration at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi. The celebration was attended by Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs; Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director of Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai; and Brigadier Mansour Ahmed Ali Bin Hamoodah, General Coordinator of Naturalization, Residency and Ports. The general directors of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the UAE, department managers, and a large number of the sector’s officers also attended the events.

Maj. Gen. Al Khaili gave a speech regarding the virtues and feats of the late forefather HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul. “The world will not forget this great leader who engraved the line of history with letters of gold,” he said.

Poet Saeed bin Karaz Al Muhairi, heritage consultant at the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, spoke briefly about the history of the UAE. He pointed out that the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may God rest his soul - founded the UAE on the basis of love, brotherhood, and on providing a decent life for all.

Similar celebrations took place across the UAE in the General Directorates of Residency and Foreigners Affairs sectors. The Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi honored 23 of its staff, where Colonel Yusuf Khouri, Deputy Director General, gave a speech during the celebration that was held at the Emirates Institute of Naturalization, Residency and Ports. The celebration was attended by department and section head alongside staff members. In his speech, Col. Khouri said: “The late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan- may God rest his soul- will steadfastly remain in the hearts of his people, as he has provided them with a decent life.” He continued by recalling the humanitarian and charitable efforts of the founder of the UAE, who would always provide a helping hand to the world’s needy. He concluded by calling upon God to bestow his mercy and eternal peace upon the late Sheikh Zayed.

The attendees then watched a film about the Zayed Al Khair’s life and work, which was followed by gifts distributed to the honorees by the Deputy Director General of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

The Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Al Ain also commemorated the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day. Colonel Khalifa Matar Balquba' Al Humairi, Director of the Residency and Foreigners' Affairs Center in Al Ain, said that celebrating this day is an annual occasion where the UAE remembers his humanitarian stance and helping hands. He said that such efforts to support humanitarian and charitable work in order to help those in need and in times of crisis have reached both near and far, providing relief for people all across the world.  He said that the celebrations are held to honor and follow the footsteps of Zayed Al Khair in his humanitarian work, “as he is a role model that inspires us to trace his path, whether inside or outside of the UAE”.

The celebration included a documentary about the march of Sheikh Zayed and of his various humanitarian stands. The third season of the Ramadan competition “The Field Challenge”, which was organized by General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Al Ain for the third consecutive year, was concluded alongside the activities. The competition witnessed participation from the governmental departments and institutions in Al Ain, where the final match was held between the Al Ain General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs team (the United House) and the Al Ain Traffic team (Al Faza’ah). The Al Ain Residency team won the third edition of the competition.

Police Operations

The Directorate General of Police Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police also took part in the celebrations organized by the UAE for the occasion.  Major General Omair Muhammad Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), stressed that the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is an occasion for benevolence and sharing. “The UAE is renowned for the generosity of its people who love to help others. This precious legacy has been bestowed upon us by the founder the UAE, the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul. This legacy still lives on through us,” he said.

Adding further, Maj. Gen. Al Muhairi said: “We celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Work Day in a bid to continue forth in the journey of benevolence throughout all walks of life. We aspire to help others both within the line of duty and through volunteer work, which thereby promotes the march of the UAE in reinforcing solidarity and collaboration amongst all members of society. This includes both citizens and residents alike.”

In a humanitarian gesture, a delegation from the Al Ain Police Directorate visited a number of patients at the Tawam Hospital and Al Ain Government Hospital. During the visit, the delegation offered gifts and bouquets of flowers to the patients, inquiring about their health and wishing the children a speedy recovery.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of the Al Ain Police Directorate, emphasized that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is a noble initiative launched by the wise leadership that aims to instill the values of benevolence and philanthropy, as exemplified by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan– may God rest his soul. He also pointed out that the march of humanitarian work in the country will be pushed forth both continuously and consistently by its benevolent and loyal sons and daughters.

Saaed’s Collective Iftar

To mark Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents organized its second collective Iftar for people with special needs at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, indicated that the second collective Iftar initiative organized by the Society for the second consecutive year aims to revive Emirati traditions and practices. The initiative additionally aims to promote community cohesion and solidarity with people with special needs, so as to provide them with traffic safety and care.

Moreover, Brigadier Eng. Al Harithi hailed the support of the private sector for such humanitarian initiatives. The Director General of Central Operations expressed his heartfelt thanks to the corporate sponsors from the private sector, for their efforts to provide support and assistance to the people with special needs and orphans. He further commended the role of the partners from humanitarian institutions such as the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, and the Al Mustaqbal Center.

ADP Honored by Emirates Autism Society

The Emirates Autism Society honored Abu Dhabi Police and valued its efforts in the success of the ‘In the Footsteps of Zayed 2’ initiative that took place over the past two weeks. The initiative concluded simultaneously with the Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on the 19th day of Ramadan in recognition of the humanitarian, philanthropic and charitable approaches and efforts of the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul.

Colonel Mubarak bin Muhairom, Director General of Community Protection and Crime Prevention at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, said that the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul - established a unique model for local and international humanitarian work. He added that the higher leadership continues forth in the charitable march in order to give more and to provide humanitarian work everywhere. He then noted that the Federal Community Police in the Ministry of Interior followed this approach, using it as a beacon to communicate with the community and participate with institutions and charities.

Dr. Khawla Salem Al Saadi, Chairman of the Emirates Autism Society, stressed over the initiative’s success in achieving such lofty goals that focused on defining a valued segment of society. She said the initiative additionally enhances efforts to integrate the groups of autistic and orphaned children into society. Dr. Al Saadi valued the efforts of the Community Police and the volunteers whose participation had a major impact on the support and motivation of the children to give and participate. Furthermore, she explained that the support and participation of the media and photographers contributed to the noble goals of the volunteers as they strive to achieve the objectives of the Society in transferring the appropriate image amongst the community.

The event was launched with the participation of Abu Dhabi Police and nationwide Community Police delegations. These delegations conducted a number of social activities with the participation of the Emirates Autism Society and orphaned children. They visited the Al Mafraq Hospital, the Latifa Hospital for Thalassemia patients in Dubai, the Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, the Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, the Khalifa Hospital for women and children in Ajman and Fujairah, and the Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. The initiative was concluded with a ceremony that was held at the University of Abu Dhabi to honor the main sponsors and participants.
