Deutsche Telekom hits it twice at the Global Carrier Awards 2014

BONN, Germany - Thursday, November 6th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Two units of the Deutsche Telekom international wholesale division: Business Development and Innovation (BDI) and International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), were each honored with one of the prestigious Global Carrier Awards.

Capacity Magazine, the organizer of the awards, honored BDI for LiveStream Perform in the “Best Technology Innovation” category. The cloud-based high definition video stream acceleration service provides outstanding performance at reasonable prices, while satisfying a wide range of requirements for a variety of business needs.

“Receiving the Global Carrier Award 2014 in this category is a great achievement. BDI is committed to providing top-quality services and we are proud that our LiveStream Perform solution has been recognized as the best technology innovation on the market,” says Karim El-Khazen, Vice President Deutsche Telekom BDI. “The high level of customer satisfaction we have seen across the globe is proof of how our solution has brought the best technology to the marketplace.”

Deutsche Telekom’s International Carrier Sales & Solutions unit (ICSS) was the runner-up for the Global Carrier Award in the “Project of the Year” category.

Capacity Magazine recognized ICSS for its complex backbone solution with superior reliability and redundancy that enabled connectivity from Brazil to Europe for the 2014 Football World Cup. The project was developed together with T-Systems International (TSI) and VIDI GmbH and implemented within extremely fast response and delivery times.

“We are delighted to get the award for ‘Project of the Year’. ICSS is committed to providing top-quality services and we are proud that our wholesale solutions have been officially acknowledged as one of the best on the market,” says Holger Magnussen, Senior Vice President Deutsche Telekom ICSS. “The project was extremely successful as it proved our commitment and ability to simplify cooperation with multiple partners for an outstanding and also very complex solution: more than one billion spectators enjoyed World Cup soccer action in high quality.”

The Global Carrier Awards have become one of the most prominent awards in the wholesale arena. The awards celebrate innovation, excellence, and vision and set the benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the global wholesale telecoms marketplace. They acknowledge the contribution of individuals, companies, and technology partners in the past 12 months. The awards are judged by a panel of telecoms analysts, industry experts, and the senior editorial team of Capacity Magazine.

The winners were announced at a gala dinner in Amsterdam on November 4.
