The Civil Defense General Directorate at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) honored the Applied Technology High School and Secondary Technical School team, who created the ‘Smart Safety Suit.’ The ceremony was held at the Civil Defense GHQ building in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Civil Defense General Commander-in-Chief at the MoI, valued the efforts of the honorees, as they contribute to rescue scanarios and facilitate the job of members of the first response team during firefighting operations. “These members face major dangers,” he said making it clear that the appropriate environment is in place to encourage and support new ideas and transform innovation into a strategic practice that safeguards society.

Ibrahim Issa Al Yasi, the Team Supervisor, explained that the ‘Smart Safety Suit’ is equipped with a number of sensors that monitor the wearer’s surrounding environment and sends reports to the observation unit about the health of the wearer and their immediate circumstances, such as their heart rate, toxic gas measurements, temperatures, camera footage and danger alerts.

The honorees expressed their happiness about this celebration, which produced a strong motive to make more efforts to present creative ideas and positive suggestions that can play a role in developing the work environment and benefitting society and the public.

The celebration was attended by Brigadier Mohamed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director of the Fire Prevention and Safety Affairs General Directorate; Brigadier Hilal Aida Al Mazroui, Director General of Resources and Support Services Affairs; and Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Tikawi, Head of the Media Affairs Department. They awarded Certificates of Appreciation and memorial shields to the team being honored.
