The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) discussed the topics of transportation and road safety during a workshop held by the General Directorate of Strategy and Performance Development. The context for this review falls within the process of developing and updating the strategic plan of 2016-2020.

In his opening statements for the workshop, Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources in Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, said:  “This workshop is held at a very significant time –it is a time where it is necessary for us to review, update, and develop our strategic plans in light of the rapidly developing world and of our constant efforts to ensure that all living within the UAE enjoy a safe and secure life.”

He added: “The higher leadership has paid great attention to the construction of the strategic plan for all federal and local governmental bodies, and has been keen to make these strategies public for all concerned partners and employees – which was crowned by the launch of UAE Vision 2021.”

Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, stated that this workshop discussed the convergence between the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and the strategy of UAE Vision 2021; the strategy of the Ministry of Interior and the plan of Abu Dhabi in the fields of security, justice, and safety.

The workshop also covered the most important input to the strategic planning process that included: main surveys; reports of strategic risk assessment; and the environmental analysis tools of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). These topics were applicable for all of the general directorates alongside the strategic issues related to the general observations offered for each of the SWOT and the Political, Economic, Social and Technological (PESTEL) analyses.”
