999 Magazine: The Flag is a Symbol of Loyalty and Belonging

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, November 4th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

During the Flag Day celebration organized by 999 Magazine under the theme of “The United House”, the staff members of the magazine expressed their deep pride in the flag - a symbol of loyalty and belonging. The celebration was held at the Abu Dhabi Theatre in Breakwater.

Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police, Member of the 999 Magazine Development Committee, said that the Flag Day celebration embodies the proclamation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai (May Allah Protect him): “We are one nation, with one constitution, one flag, one army, and one President- Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed”.

“The theme ‘The United House’ was inspired by the words of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces: ‘The UAE is united through its people. The UAE is a strong fortress and with reassured hearts we know that our homeland is fine. May Allah bless everyone and congratulations to all upon this valued occasion,’” said Colonel Al Shamesi.

Colonel Khaled Al Shehi, brother of the martyr Tareq al Shehi, attended the celebrations. Colonel Al Shehi expressed his deep pride for Flag Day, as it symbolizes the sense of loyalty and giving towards a homeland honored by its sons.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Awad Saleh Awad Saeed, Editor-in-chief of 999 Magazine, the magazine organized this ceremony in order to honor the families of police martyrs. “This festive occasion honors and acknowledges the families of the police martyrs who have so gallantly sacrificed their life for the sake of this nation, its higher leadership, and for the generous people,” he said.

“999 magazine and others have come together to celebrate national events like today under the guidance of the police leadership. The fraternization takes place in a bid to achieve the vision of the police leadership – a vision that introduces the concept of a community-police relationship,” Lieutenant Colonel Saeed said.

The event featured the movies ‘The Flag of My Country’ and ‘Tareq Al Shehi: Martyr of the Nation’, and a word from the magazine’s strategic partner. The poem ‘Rhymes for the Love of our Homeland’ was recited and followed by the performance of patriotic songs by a number of artists.

A large number of partners and sponsors attended the ceremony who praised the role of the magazine for including them in the celebrations, promoting a cohesive relationship, and deepening national pride and affiliation.

Lieutenant Colonel Awad Saleh Awad Saeed, Editor-in-chief of 999 Magazine attended the event alongside a number of senior officers at the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police, managers of sponsoring companies, representatives of the participating organizations, and a number of journalists.

At the end of the celebration, Colonel Al Shamesi honored the sponsors, guests, and participants of the ceremony, and praised their continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, as represented by the 999 Magazine. Colonel Al Shamesi also honored the Emirates Heritage Club for sponsoring and hosting the event held at the Abu Dhabi Theatre in Breakwater.
