ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, February 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police announced that several major roads will be closed on Wednesday for the start of the Qasr Al Hosn festival, which will commence tomorrow in Abu Dhabi.

Colonel Jamal Salem Abdullah Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Abu Dhabi Police announced that Al Mashtal Street will be closed between 9am and 6pm. Moreover, side roads surrounding Qasr Al Hosn will be closed between 1.30pm and 6pm.

Colonel Al Ameri urged the motorists to be cautious, use alternative roads and to abide by the instructions of the patrols and traffic officers.

Encouraging Environment Friendly Practices

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, February 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Parking lots at the Abu Dhabi Police Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department were remarkably empty recently, when staff members left their cars at home and used public transportation from specific locations in Abu Dhabi to get to work. This initiative demonstrates the department’s efforts reduce carbon emission from vehicles.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters is participating in the third Qasr Al Hosn Festival, which commenced on Wednesday evening.

Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Sporting Activity Section at the Clubs Department, said that as many as 100 Abu Dhabi Police officers and staff members led the festival’s opening ceremony parade from Qasr Al Manhal to the gate of Qasr Al Hosn, wearing their traditional old uniforms, used in the early days of the Foundation stage in 1957. Scrap wood to create 100% of the steam needed to run one of P&G’s largest paper manufacturing facilities
