The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Policies Section at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), discussed policy governance and management  during  a specialized workshop organized by the Ministry of Interior. The workshop, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR), took place at Aloft Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, explained that the workshop falls within the plans to exchange expertise and knowledge between the country’s institutions to enhance the quality of life in the UAE community, through efficient communication and transparency in the provision of distinguished police services to citizens, residents and visitors to the UAE.

The secretary general stressed the importance of formulating and implementing policies, which play an instrumental role in organizing police work; in addition to implementing the appropriate foundations and curricula to boost performance and provide high quality services.

The workshop was attended by a number of assistant undersecretaries, heads of departments and chiefs of sections from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). It also tackled the general framework for policy development.

  Captain Huda Al Ma’aini, Chief of Policies Section at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, gave an overview of the policy development and formulation methodology at the Ministry of Interior. A practical exercise was carried out about the proper ways to compile problems and challenges; and to set the goals to be achieved by the policies in order to evaluate the effectiveness of implementation. The exercise also included the formulation of a policy specifically intended for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR).
