Abu Dhabi Air Wing Conducted Six Humanitarian Missions Last April

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, May 10th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Air Wing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police conducted six air ambulance missions last April in line with its ongoing humanitarian efforts to save lives. The missions included two assignments to transfer patients from Ghayathi Hospital. The first mission involved relocating a child, age 3, suffering from second degree burns to Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi. The second mission involved the transfer of a senior citizen, age 67, suffering from an acute illness to Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

The third situation that required an air ambulance involved the transfer of a female Emirati, age 56, from Al Sila Hospital to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi due to losing consciousness and experiencing tremors.

The Air Wing carried out the three other humanitarian missions in Delma, Al Hail Island, and Al Hayer.

The fourth mission involved the transportation of an Emirati, age 75, from Delma Hospital to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City due to chest pain and heart failure. In the fifth mission, a female Emirati, age 38, was transferred from Al Hail Island, near Mubarraz Island, to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City on account of severe fatigue and drop in blood pressure. In the sixth and final mission of the Air Wing, a female Emirati, age 23, was transported to Tawam Hospital in Al Ain as a result of a face wound and severe cramps following a traffic accident.

Throughout each mission, the air ambulance crew of the Air Wing Department administered medical care to the patients onsite and during the transfer to the hospitals, where the patients would receive the necessary medical treatment.

Brigadier Pilot Ali Mohammed Al Mazroui, Director of the Air Wing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the attention and care given by the department to not only respond to humanitarian calls, but to reach the required sites in a timely manner. “These missions have contributed to providing humanitarian care and to saving lives. It is noteworthy that such efforts have been made possible through the generous support from the police leadership. They have played a significant role in promoting the work of the department through their directives and support for the Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing,” he said. Continuing, Brigadier Pilot Al Mazroui noted that the support and the actions of the Air Wing additionally strengthen the satisfaction of the community in the services provided to them, as they are done in accordance with the best international practices.

He said:  “The Air Wing is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and is capable of implementing a variety of missions. The Air Wing is entrusted with tasks that require medical services, aerial patrols, search and rescue operations for missing persons, and transferring persons who are sick or injured to hospitals.”
