The Al Ain Social Support Center, affiliated to the Social Support Centers Department at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, recently organized a book fair under the theme “Friends of Reading”. The event is in response to the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has declared 2016 as the “Year of Reading.”
The book fair was inaugurated by Colonel Ali Al Badi, Director of the Social Support Center in Al Ain, in the presence of Colonel Hadef Al Shamesi, Head of the Social Support Centers Department in Abu Dhabi, along with a number of officers and the center’s employees.
A substantial number of publishing houses took part in the fair, which included a variety of family and society books; in addition to Arabic novels and publications related to the proper upbringing of children. The wide variety of books was highly acclaimed by the center’s staff members and by visitors from government and social institutions and other entities.
The book fair aims at encouraging people to acquire the valuable books and publications, which contribute to enhance the cultural, intellectual, and scientific skills. It also aims to motivate employees to read in a bid to nurture an ambitious and well-educated generation.
