Saif bin Zayed Attends Police College Graduation Ceremony

Under the Patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the graduation ceremony of the 26th batch of cadets and university graduates, the 10th batch of female university graduates, and the 3rd batch of master degree holders. The ceremony took place on Monday at the Police College Headquarters in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The number of male and female graduates was 223. 161 were male cadets, 60 were male university students, and 2 were female university students. He also explained that 12 of the male cadets were from 7 other Arab countries; one student from Kuwait, two from Qatar; two from Bahrain, two from Jordan, two from Yemen, two from Palestine, and one from the Comoros Islands.

HH Sheikh Saif emphasized that the graduation of this new batch of our people adds another milestone to the great achievements made by the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) higher leadership in various fields. “These achievements have now become a practical reality, thanks to the unlimited support given by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the vigilant follow-up of General HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates,” he said.

In a statement, HH Sheikh Saif added, “In this celebration, we provide our leadership, the people of the UAE, and our guests on this sacred land with the outcome of our government’s care for social institutions and the UAE’s sons and daughters: this elite group of distinguished graduates who worked with dedication and perseverance, and successfully passed their graduation requirements. They achieved honorable results and acquired the latest legal, policing and security sciences in order to assume their responsibilities with pride. These loyal soldiers will maintain the UAE as an oasis of security and stability.”

HH Sheikh Saif congratulated the new graduates and called for them to apply the law neutrally, impartially, and conscientiously, bearing in mind the country’s security and safety. He also urged them to continue developing their physical and intellectual skills, and to stay abreast of the latest developments in sciences. He also urged them to pursue high educational levels in line with challenges, deal with new developments in order to be the force that supports and defends rights and justice, and be ‘the watchful eye that protects the safety and security of society.’

Furthermore, HH Sheikh Saif urged the graduates to continue their education, to further develop their skills, and to stay current with the latest developments in their fields in order to provide the best policing services to all segments of society. The graduates are expected to reflect their absolute integrity, honesty, sincerity, and sense of responsibility at all times, with a smile on their face.

The ceremony was attended by HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court; HH Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development; Major General Pilot Sheikh Ahmad bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority; along with a number of sheikhs and ministers.

The ceremony was also attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior (MoI); Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaiaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports;  Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services; and Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior. Also in attendance were police chiefs, director generals, diplomatic corps members, senior armed forces and police officers, members of the delegations representing the graduates from sister countries, and the parents of the graduates.

The graduation ceremony began with the entry of the graduates’ ceremonial field line-up and the arrival of HH Sheikh Saif, who inspected the graduates’ line. Following the national anthem played by the Abu Dhabi Police Music Band, the leader of the line-up asked HH Sheikh Saif for permission to begin the ceremony.

HH Sheikh Saif handed the Sword of Honor to cadet Ahmad Nasser Abdullah Al Nuaimi, for ranking first in the overall score, and first in academic sciences. HH Sheikh Saif also presented awards to the other top achieving students.

Graduates then took the legal oath. The 26th batch of graduates then handed the flag of the Police College to the 27th batch, keeping the flag high as it hovered above them to the sound of the national anthem; the anthem of the flag. The graduated cadets repeated “Long live HH, President of the UAE” three times, and the chants were followed by a recitation of the themed poem “We are all Khalifa” (Kulluna Khalifa).  The leader of the line-up asked permission from HH Sheikh Saif to leave upon announcing the conclusion of the graduation ceremony. Commemorative photos were taken after the ceremony.

Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police College, gave a speech during the ceremony. Welcoming HH Sheikh Saif, he said, “This graduation day and these moments of joy embody all the meanings of honor and dignity which reflect the grandiosity of this event that you honor by you presence to celebrate the graduation of an elite group of the sons and daughters of the nation and their brethren from Arab Gulf countries. They represent the 26th batch of male cadets and university graduates, the 10th batch of female university graduates, and the 3rd batch of master degree holders.”

Additionally, he stressed that the MoI is relentlessly striving to develop the quality of the curriculum provided by the Police College through its work strategy, philosophy and curriculum. “We aim to implement ambitious plans, programs and courses that keep pace with the developments in the country and its sophisticated scientific institutions. This is to graduate police officers who are able to deal with challenges with efficiency and to interact with various segments of the community with tolerance,” he noted. Moreover, he underlined that these principles stem from the teachings of our religion, culture and the civilization of our society. He pointed out that the college accords considerable attention to the field of specialized sciences, without neglecting legal sciences, so that the officer can easily integrate in the work field after his graduation.

“Our leadership has paid great attention to science and learning as a cornerstone of the development and revitalization of people, and exploited all its potential and capacities for the sake of this principle. It has provided all the modern educational technology means and devices to keep pace with global development. Our celebration today is the fruit of this care and attention ... where your children studying at the Police College get the will, determination and strength from the leaders of this country to maintain safety and security in this nation,” he added.

He explained that the cadets have received the latest legal and police science training and skills that enable them to face challenges while complying with the law. They have declared their readiness to please people by maintaining their security and joining their colleagues in order to deliver the best services to the UAE society, after having completed the requirements for graduation. Cadets were awarded the bachelor degree in police science and criminal justice, university students obtained a diploma in police sciences, and the postgraduate students received the master degree in criminal justice and police management.

He drew his speech to the cadets, saying, “Today you stand on the threshold of a new phase of your professional life, and you will join your colleagues in the real work field; so fear God while working, obey your superiors, make patriotism your pillar, be loyal to your senior leadership and act as a haven for any needy person, by deriving your strength from the strength of the right, and drawing your pride from keeping your promise.”

Al Sha’far hands certificates to the graduates

After the graduation ceremonies, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, accompanied by Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, distributed the certificates to the graduates of the 26th batch of male cadets and university graduates, the 10th batch of female university graduates, and the first batch of master degree holders at Al Etihad Hall in the college.
