MoI Launches MOI UAE App New Design on Apple Store

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, January 12th 2016 [ME NewsWire]

The Smart Government Program at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched the new design for the ministry’s MoI UAE application. The application is available in the Apple Store for iOS supported devices such as iPhone and iPad. Providing this service through the Smart Government Program falls in line with the MoI’s efforts to develop smart services offered to customers, so as to enhance the provision of these services and make them available and accessible around the clock.

Lt. Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shimmari, Executive Director of the MoI’s Smart Government Program noted: “The launch of the MOI UAE Application New Design complements the efforts to ensure sustainable development of the services provided by the Ministry of Interior’s Smart Government Program.” Moreover, Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari stressed the commitment of the Ministry to implement the higher leadership’s directives to provide smart e-services to customers with ease.

He pointed out that the smart government reflects a commitment to reach out to members of the public through all types of smart platforms and devices; and saves customers the time and hassle of going to government service centers. “These smart services act as the cornerstone of the MoI’s Smart Government Program towards transformation into smart government,” he emphasized. Moreover, the Executive Director of the MoI’s Smart Government Program underlined that cooperation and coordination between federal and local government entities constitutes a pillar for smart government and aims to mobilize all national resources and potentials to serve this vital project. “This underlines the need to make changes in thinking and ways of doing things in order to keep up with developments and allow the UAE to take the initiative,” he added.

Adding further, Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari explained that the MoI’s application provides a set of services for all segments of society. “It also provides easy browsing with display properties for people with special needs, so as to enhance the user experience and enable them to complete their transactions with just three steps,”, he emphasized. Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari also indicated that the application provides other support services such as the vehicle registration renewal, which can be done directly through the application; the customer can keep a copy of the e-registration card on his mobile phone, along with the multiple services pertaining to the sectors of police, civil defense, naturalization and residency.

Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari explained that the new design of MOI UAE application allows customers, nationals, residents or customers living outside the country to communicate with the Smart Government Program through the most convenient ways, without any additional costs or international communication fees. He added that the new design also allows communication with the technical support hotline to follow up on transactions, proposals or complaints related to the ministry’s services with just one click, in keeping with the Smart Government program’s slogan "Services at your fingertips."

Lt. Colonel Al Shimmari added that the MOI UAE application’s new design allows users to rearrange services according to their personal interests and preferences, and provides easy access to these services. It also provides the instant assistance service, by which individuals can communicate with employees assigned to provide assistance through the instant messaging feature. The application also provides more than 200 alerts to remind customers of the services renewal or follow-ups times. These alerts include: expiration of the driving license or vehicle ownership or passport.

The Ministry of Interior has endeavored to live up to its slogan "Services at your fingertips" by providing electronic services in a secure way. The ministry also explained that the registration process for its application MOI UAE for smart phones includes sending the activation code in a text message to the mobile phone number registered on the system. In case the number was inactive, then you should update your data at the Department of Naturalization, Residency and Ports for one time only; then the service will be provided smoothly and regularly.

The Smart Government Program at the Ministry of Interior has allocated the phone number 800500 to receive their enquiries during business hours to receive proposals that would enhance the services provided to them via the Email: smart@moi.gov.ae.”
