G-Cluster and Broadmedia to Provide Cloud Gaming to NTT Plala

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Broadmedia (Head Office: Minato‐ku, Tokyo, CEO: Taro Hashimoto) and G‐cluster Global (Head Office: Minato‐ku, Tokyo, President: Erik Piehl) are proud to announce today to provide their cloud gaming platform technology and game content for NTT Plala’s "HIKARI-TV”*1 (Head Office: Toshima‐ku, Tokyo, CEO: Koji Bando), using their G-cluster technology*2.

NTT Plala is planning to launch "HIKARI-TV GAME”, a new cloud gaming service for TV on June 3rd 2013. This is the first cloud gaming service for TV devices in Japan, provided through NTT Plala’s IPTV service -"HIKARI-TV”. It is a totally new cloud gaming service using G-cluster technology which allows HIKARI-TV customers to play the game immediately without purchasing gaming consoles or downloading game software. Also, with some games it is possible to begin playing on the TV, pause, and continue the game play on another device such as a smartphone or a tablet. Furthermore, you can also match-play with your families and friends by using smartphones as remote controllers.

Broadmedia and G-cluster will continue to increase the number of available game titles, and add new functions especially for the cloud gaming service "HIKARI-TV GAME”.

"HIKARI-TV” is a IPTV service through which you can watch videos such as movies, dramas, animations, and also enjoy shopping on the specialized channel.
