(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regulatory News:
Cinterion, Gemalto’s (Euronext NL 0000400653 GTO) machine-to-machine (M2M) business segment and the global leader in cellular M2M communication technology, announces that its TC65i quad-band wireless module has been fully integrated in the AirGate-GPRS system for remote monitoring and site automation. Developed by Novus Automation, a leading manufacturer of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), the system links industrial equipment to backend computer systems providing 24/7 remote supervision.
The Cinterion high-performance plug-in and play module provides secure wireless connectivity for remote monitoring and management of industrial processes in manufacturing and building automation environments.
With a powerful embedded Java™ engine, the Cinterion solution runs AirGate software directly on the module freeing up valuable computing power for innovative automation tasks such as controlling robots and improving energy efficiency in manufacturing. The AirGate features multiple industrial interfaces for flexibility and easy integration with any automation system.
JMD Automação, a Brazilian solution provider recently implemented the new Novus device at several manufacturing facilities in Brazil and reported immediate improved performance and efficiency.
"Novus AirGate is the most flexible solution to implement remote access to an existing Modbus communication network, with minor or no changes to the infrastructure,"said José Manoel Reis de Oliveira, Applications Engineer at JMD Automação. "As system integrators, we are running extensive tests in actual applications and based on the first excellent results, we are confident in the successful deployment of monitoring and alarm applications in industrial facilities, water distribution management, among others."
"Cinterion’s design consulting and powerful Java-embedded solution simplified design and integration, and eliminated the expense of additional processors and memory,”said Marcos Dillenburg, Technology Director, Novus Automation. "Cinterion’s industry-leading wireless communication tools allow secure access into manufacturing from virtually any place, any time for a more streamlined workforce.”
IMS Research estimates the global industrial automation market will reach $159 billion by year-end and top $200 billion by 2015, with as much as 65 percent of that growth in the Americas and Asia-Pacific.1
"The vibrant manufacturing sector in Brazil is driving strong growth in the region’s industrial automation market,” said Ramzi Abdine, General Manager of Cinterion M2M at Gemalto Latin America. "Combining Cinterion’s leadership in reliable M2M technology with Novus’s expertise in automation and SCADA systems provides customers with leading-edge technology that optimizes operations and strengthens competitive advantage.”
