ADP Community Police Conclude Home Protection Campaign

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, August 12th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Department of Community Police at the Abu Dhabi Police have concluded the home protection campaign to protect homeowners from thefts during the summer months. The Department of Community Police launched the campaign last month as part of the annual outreach program that aims to provide a culture of security and prevention against negative behaviors and procedures.

Major Bahyan Hamad Al Ameri, Chief of the Community Police Affairs Section in Abu Dhabi, noted that the campaign was included in the annual security awareness program prepared by the Community Awareness Section. The program was designed based on the results of a statistical survey that was conducted across various geographical locations; and on a number of reports that police stations received which reflected a number of issues that required further attention.

“Many citizens and residents spend their summer vacations abroad,” Major Al Ameri said. “This requires specialized guidance on the methods of securing their properties while abroad.” He also asserted that the campaign comes as an essential preventive procedure for fighting crimes. The Abu Dhabi Police are tasked to achieve positive results with this regard by fostering its role in the community.

For his part, Captain Sami Al Munthari, Head of Community Police Branch at Al Khalidiya Comprehensive Police Station, explained that the campaign aims to spread awareness on the methods of managing the security of properties in general, especially home protection while traveling.

He also noted that the main objective of awareness campaigns against crimes of theft is to provide home protection while the owners are away. “The protective procedures include ensuring that all doors are locked, and safely securing all gold, jewelry, and money before traveling; ideally, the valuables should not be left in the home. Neighbors and relatives should be notified about travel details, including dates of travel and expected date of return,” said Captain Al Munthari. He also asserted that the Abu Dhabi Police are committed to spreading safety and maintaining stability by intensifying its crime fighting and prevention efforts via its integrated police and security system.

Captain Al Munthari indicated that the Community Police have distributed around 1,000 awareness leaflets on the methods of securing homes. The leaflets were distributed in public areas such as parks, the Abu Dhabi Corniche, and other locations within Abu Dhabi jurisdiction.
