ADP Calls Upon Society Members to Combat Begging

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, January 5th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Department of Community Police, considers the act of begging as an uncivilized nuisance and annoyance that preys upon sympathizers and deceives them into being cheated out of their money. The act of begging additionally casts a bad impression upon the civilized nature of the UAE.

Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom, Head of the Department of Community Police, called upon society members to cooperate with the police authorities and report instances of begging. “Combating the act of begging is a priority of the police, and the partnership between the police and members of society is essential to eradicating this social epidemic,” he said.

These remarks will be included in the radio address by the Head of the Department of Community Police, which will be broadcasted live on Tuesday. The address falls within the framework of the ’Security Glances’ Campaign organized by the Radio Branch at the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

“Beggars have been known to use deceptive means in order to entice sympathy from others and receive their money. They additionally utilize such immoral behavior while they commit other crimes, such as robbery,” Lt. Colonel Mubarak Bin Muhairom said. “Ultimately, it is up to members of society to cooperate with the police in order to combat the social epidemic of begging.”
