Abu Dhabi Traffic Intensifies its Patrols during New Year Holiday

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, December 24th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Directorate General of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police announced that it has intensified traffic monitoring on the emirate’s roads during the New Year celebrations in order to provide traffic safety; prevent disturbances and noise; and reduce any uncivilized behaviors that are contrary to the law.

Brigadier Khamis Ishaq Mohammed, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said: “the directorate will deal firmly with motorists driving at dangerous speeds on roads at any time, because this violation poses a serious threat to other road users.” He also warned against driving with no respect to the law and stressed that the police will show no leniency in enforcing penalties on offenders.

Moreover, he called upon road users to abide by the speed limits during the New Year celebrations; cooperate with the police; and be extremely cautious while driving; in order to ensure their own safety and the safety of others. He also advised motorists to observe traffic laws and regulations and to refrain from committing violations under any excuse and pretext.

He also reminded motorists of the importance of consciousness and concentration in order to see the road clearly and control the vehicle properly, and to avoid sitting behind the wheel while under the influence of certain medications such as painkillers, which undermine drivers’ ability to control the vehicle and alter his good judgment of road conditions, and may pose serious risks to everyone.

In conclusion, the Director of the Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police called upon parents and families to monitor their children’s behavior in order to protect them against the dangers of peer pressure and to help them maintain their safety and avoid legal accountability and traffic accidents, wishing safety for all.
