Abu Dhabi Police GHQ Organize the First Leadership Forum to Promote Police Work

Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, confirmed that the great achievements made by the Abu Dhabi Police in fostering the security and stability and providing the best services to the community were achieved as a result of the support and attention dedicated by  His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the close follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and as a result of the sponsorship and support of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior

These remarks were made by Major General Al Rumaithi, during the first leadership forum, which was organized by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ. The forum was held in the presence of Major General Maktoum Al Shareefi, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Police. Major General Al Rumaithi emphasized that the directives made by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior aimed at promoting police work, improving performance, dedicating attention to human cadres, and providing best services to the community have contributed to achieving the Abu Dhabi GHQ’s objectives. He added that the distinguished accomplishments made by ADP stem from the strategic plans developed by H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior.

He said: “The forum is a real opportunity to promote the concept of police leadership by dedicating attention to developing leadership capacities of human cadres, spreading the culture of knowledge, exchanging expertise and opinions, and keeping pace with all developments in police and security areas,” he said. Major General Al Rumaithi pointed out that such forums will be organized periodically to identify the best international practices that contribute to advancing the process of development in the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

Adding further,  Major General Al Rumaithi said: “Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ,  dedicates significant attention to developing leadership skills by organizing such forums that contribute to promoting the culture of exchanging knowledge, providing all the required needs, and reviewing the best international practices of police leadership.” He confirmed that the strategic plan espoused by the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ falls within framework of the Abu Dhabi 2030 plan.

He also explained that the officers who hold leadership and supervisory positions are required to identify the needs of employees and customers and produce innovative means and methods to provide services in a way that saves time, facilitate access to services, enhance relations with external partners including government and private entities, and benefit from experiences that support the process of development at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

Moreover, Major General Al Rumaithi highlighted the importance of teamwork by reviewing and adopting the ‘Open Door’ approach between the leaders and employees, as well as reviewing and adopting the proposals that contribute to developing police work and achieving the objectives of Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.

He also called upon the attending officers to espouse the internal communication methodology between leaders and staff members. He said: “Such approach would reflect positively on developing the work environment; identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of the level of services provided; dedicating attention to motivating employees; as well as studying and applying their proposals that contribute to establishing an optimal police work environment.”

Towards the end of the first leadership forum, HE Major General Al Rumaithi exchanged views and proposals that contribute to developing work with the attending officers. He pointed out that the forum contributes to promoting the culture of brainstorming by submitting new development ideas that enhance police work in crime prevention and providing distinguished services to community members.

In his speech during the forum, Major General Maktoum Al Shareefi, Acting Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Police act within the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy, to boost the skills of field personnel by adopting specialized training and developing plans that would contribute to providing the best services to community members. He also highlighted the need for joint coordination between all police departments to attain the goals and plans that contribute to achieving the Abu Dhabi Police’s vision to ensure that Abu Dhabi remains a society that enjoys safety and security.

The forum was attended by Brigadier General Obaid Salem Al Ketbi, Director General of Human Resources; Brigadier Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs; Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director General of Central Operations; along with  general directors, department heads, and officers from various departments at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.
